Joyce Marlene Martin

February 11, 1940 - March 31, 2011


Joyce was born February 11th, 1940 to Lester and Bernice Jacobson in Stoughton Wisconsin. Joyce grew up and spent her entire life living in Janesville. Joyce married Robert Martin on March 12th, 1971, and they just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. As a life-time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Joyce enjoyed being a member of the hand bell choir for many years. Joyce was a housewife and enjoyed helping Bob with his milk trucking business. She loved those trips with Bob to Vegas and sitting down for coffee and cards with her cherished sisters. Joyce was a sweet soul who cared about everyone that she met and was a good friend to all.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert, Her 4 children: Sons Richard (Kelly) and Kenneth Erdman and Daughters Wendy (Randy) Aide and Jennifer Shaw. Bob’s 6 children: Son Curt (Lorie) and Daughters Elaine (Steve) Kersten, Angie (Greg) Brudos, Lisa (Michael) Bobzien, Karen (Paul) Gilbertson, Sue (Scott) Chambers, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Joyce is further survived by her sisters and brother-in-laws: Elaine & William Press and Joan ‘JoAnne’ & John Olson and Arlene & Lee Hartwig and many nieces and nephews. She will be greeted in heaven by her dear sister and brother-in-law Kathleen ‘Kay’ and Donald Cripps, and her baby brother, Earl.

Mom, you were our angel on this earth and you will live in our hearts forever…

Services will be held to celebrate Joyce’s life on Monday, April 4th, at 1:00 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1422 Center Avenue, Janesville, with Pastor Bruce Gray officiating. A visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM, Sunday, April 3rd, and on Monday from noon until the time of service, in the Cross & Crown Room at St. Peter’s. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
